A young James Ford (Sawyer) supposedly meets Jacob at his dad's funeral. Jacob is also present when Locke is pushed out the 8th floor window by his father, the real Sawyer. He is reading a book on an outdoor bench when Locke falls. He calmly puts a bookmark in his book and casually walks over to Locke's body in the grass and kneels down next to him.
Episode 5.12 – “Dead is Dead” To atone for sins of the past, Ben must attempt to summon the smoke monster in order to be judged.
Episode 5.13 – “Some Like It Hoth” Suspicions about a possible breach intensify after Ben is taken from the infirmary, and a reluctant Miles is forced to work with Hurley when he's asked to deliver an important package to a top Dharma official.
5.14-“The Variable” On the 100th episode milestone for the series, the time of reckoning has begun when Daniel Faraday comes clean regarding what he knows about the island.
5.15-“Follow the Leader” Jack and Kate find themselves at odds over the direction to take to save their fellow island survivors, Locke further solidifies his stance as leader of "The Others," and Sawyer and Juliet come under scrutiny from the Dharma Initiative.
TV Guide confirms that one of these characters will be the next to go -- Ben, Sawyer, Daniel, Jin, or Miles.
"Inside sources spill that a major character death is coming—and that the person who is leaving the show was not the first to know. Here's what I can tell you about this death: * A current series regular is getting killed before the end of season five. * The character who will die is someone who is much-loved by many of you fans. * This is a real leaving-the-show death, à la Shannon or Charlie, not a quick-fix time-travel death like Jeremy Bentham/John Locke.
And a source close to the show tells me that the person who's being killed off just learned of their character's fate late last week, and the news hit hard. "Unfortunately, [he or she] found out after the script treatments were sent out to some of the crew on the set," says my source. "So it wasn't the best timing."
As for the timing of when this death will happen onscreen, I can only tell you that while the character's end is still a ways out, it will go down this season."
